Pass-On Rounds

Location: Clinic Tower, A5C129
Daily 0730 - 0830

Description:
Presentation and discussion of previous 24 hour consults and admissions on Acute Care Surgery by residents, fellows, and ACS faculty.

Objective:
To provide consistent, standardized formal hand-off to ensure quality care of our patients and review pertinent imaging.

Critical Care Rounds

Location: Clinic Tower, 5A and 5B
Daily 1400 - 1500

Description:
Presentation and discussion of ICU patients with Board Certified intensivist.

Objective:
To provide up to date, cutting edge critical care for all surgical specialties.

Acute Care Surgery Core Curriculum

Location: Clinic Tower, A5C129
Weekly - Mondays 12:00-1:00 pm

Description:
Combined Acute Care Surgery Conference is a multidisciplinary (surgery, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, radiology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, etc) conference in which core competencies are reviewed.

Objective:
To update and improve knowledge and skill of emergency surgery, trauma and critical care, to improve the ability of surgical professionals to work together, and incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice.

Acute Care Surgery Journal Club

Location: Clinic Tower, A5C129
Weekly - Wednesdays 12:00-1:00 pm

Description:
Presentation and discussion of latest articles on Acute Care Surgery by fellows and senior residents.   Once every 6 weeks, this is a multi-disciplinary conference with orthopaedics and trauma.

Objective:
To critically appraise recent studies in critical care, trauma and Acute Care Surgery.

Acute Care Surgery SICU Rounds

Location: Clinic Tower, A5C129
Daily - Monday thru Wednesday 9:30 am, Thursday 9:00 am

Description:
Bedside teaching rounds with attending faculty.

Objective:
To critically assess a case from presentation to the present encompassing workup, management, physiology, anatomy, operative approach, common pitfalls, expected outcomes and applicability to other situations.

Acute Care Surgery Staff M&M Conference

Location: Clinic Tower, A5C129
Weekly - Thursdays 10:00 -11:00 am

Description:
Weekly performance and quality improvement review of morbidities and mortalities.

Objective: To critically evaluate M&Ms and determine areas for improvement.

Surgery Grand Rounds

Location: DVRC Auditorium
Weekly - Fridays 8:30-9:30 am
Credit: Maximum of 1 hour Category 1 credit per session

Description:
Surgical grand rounds consist of case presentations by resident physicians. These cases are discussed by faculty members of the surgical department, distinguished visiting faculty and members of other disciplines in the hospital. These cases are chosen in order to review the principles of diagnosis and treatment of the diseases and injuries seen in the practice of general surgery.

Objective:
To update knowledge and skills in surgical care and research
