The Lung Cancer Program at USC offers the most advanced technology presently available in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. The expertise offered at USC is not readily available elsewhere in Southern California. Among the comprehensive diagnostic services we provide: Lung cancer screening for high-risk individuals using low-dose CT scans, CT-guided core needle biopsy of lung tumors, electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy or superDimension® for biopsy of lung nodules and Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) for incisionless biopsy of lymph nodes.
Our dedicated thoracic surgical oncologists use the da Vinci robot system for complex robotic lung surgery. As a result, our patients have enjoyed a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery. These advantages allow our surgeons to operate on older and frailer patients who have are considered too high risk at other medical centers. We also offer multispecialty treatment for advanced lung cancer including stereotactic radiotherapy with Cyberknife®, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with image guidance (IGRT) for precise radiation delivery, CT–guided thermal ablation of tumors, personalized chemotherapy and targeted molecular therapy, and clinical trials for patients of all stages, I through IV.
