Dr. Joongho Shin has clinical interest and expertise in treating colon and rectal cancer using minimally invasive techniques including Da Vinci robotic assisted surgery. In addition, he provides individualized, expert care in all spectrum of colorectal diseases and conditions in discrete and caring manner.
Dr.Shin has graduated from Seoul National University with degree in Philosophy. He then obtained his medical degree from SUNY School of Medicine at Stony Brook. He completed his general surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein School of Medicine, followed by colorectal surgery fellowship at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center/Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
During his residency, he completed two year research fellowship in a NIH-funded colon cancer laboratory, and published numerous peer-reviewed journals. His research interest includes microsatellite unstable colon cancer, IBD, and new surgical techniques.
Native of Korea and New York, he is a studious follower of classical music, Jazz, and impressionist art.
