In addition to performing minimally invasive surgery (or laparoscopy), the surgeons at USC use a new technology to see in 3 dimensions. Typical “standard” laparoscopy uses a television camera inserted through a small hole as the “eye” of the surgeon. This requires skill in interpreting a 3 dimensional environment on a 2D television screen.
Now, we have the technology to change that, using the same technology found in 3D television sets. This also is the same technology used by the robot to improve visualization. Ask your surgeon about this technology today.
