Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (or TEM) is a specialized way of performing surgery on the rectum by using specialized instruments placed through the anus.

Diagram of rectal cancer - colon tumor or polypIt is often used to remove polypsor early stage cancers after appropriate workup, but can also be used for fistulas and other problems that require a specialized approach.
