Marfan's Syndrome

Marfan's Syndrome is an inherited congenital heart defect that involves the enlargement of the aorta. The aorta is the large vessel that carries blood from the heart to the body's tissues. The enlargement occurs near the aortic valve and may also affect the ascending aorta, the segment of the aorta that carries blood to the body. The structure of the aortic valve and/or the mitral valve may also be affected.
