Colorectal Cancer Awareness
Early screening saves lives!

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths for men and women combined. Yet colorectal cancer is curable with early detection.

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2005 there will be approximately 104,950 new cases of colon cancer (48,290 men and 56,660 women), and approximately 40,340 new cases of rectal cancer (23,530 men and 16,810 women) diagnosis made.

Routine testing works – it detects pre-cancerous growths in the colon and rectum. Screening tests such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, barium enema with contrast, and virtual colonoscopy, are used to detect early development of colorectal cancer.
