P. Michael McFadden, M.D., F.A.C.S.
P. Michael McFadden, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a Professor of Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans on a Walter C. Teagle Scholarship and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. McFadden completed his general surgery residency in the Tulane University Program at Charity Hospital of Louisiana. He then completed his residency in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans in 1981. Dr. McFadden is boarded in two specialties, General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. McFadden is a past president and a member of the Board of the Tulane Medical Alumni Association, the Tulane Surgical Society and the New Orleans Surgical Society. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Tulane University Health Science Center. He was a Northern California Governor of the American College of Chest Physicians from 1989 through 1991. Dr. McFadden was Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Palo Alto Medical Clinic from 1983 to 1991, and practiced at Stanford University Hospital. Dr. McFadden was a staff Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Program Director for Thoracic Surgery and the Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation prior to his current position at USC. He also served on the Ochsner Alumni Association Board of Advisors. Dr. McFadden is a retired Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve Medical Corps.
Dr. McFadden has authored more than 67 peer review publications, book chapters, and films in the field of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is a standing reviewer for the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Ochsner Journal. He has participated in national and international clinical research trials dealing with organ preservation, heart and lung transplantation and industry supported trials in endovascular stenting for thoracic aortic aneurysms.
