Robbin G. Cohen, M.D.
Robbin G. Cohen, M.D. is Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado and completed all of his surgical training at Stanford University Hospital, which included five years of general surgery and three years of cardiothoracic, vascular and transplant surgery under the supervision of Norman Shumway, M.D. He also spent a year conducting research in Stanford's heart and lung laboratory. Dr. Cohen joined the University of Southern California in 1993.
Dr. Cohen's research and clinical interests include minimally invasive heart and lung surgery, heart transplantation, living-related lung transplantation, adult cardiac surgery, coronary bypass surgery, valvular heart disease, disease of the thoracic aorta, lung cancer, and tumors of the chest wall and mediastinum. He was recently awarded a large grant from the American College of Surgeons to study immunohistochemistry in the staging of lung cancers. He is one of four selected nationwide for this key study.
