Evaluation of Potential Donors

  • Blood Type:   The donor and recipient must be ABO identical

  • Psychosocial evaluation

  • Physician interview and physical examination

  • CXR and ECG

  • Labs:
    • CBC with platelets,
    • Chem 7, Ca, Mg, Ph, PT/PTT
    • LFTs (TB, DB, ALT, AST, Alk. Phos.,GGT, LDH)
    • Total proteins, albumin, cholesterol
    • Special (serum Ferritin, al-Antitrypsin)

  • Serologies:
    • anti-HBcAB
    • HbsAg
    • anti-HCV
    • CMV
    • EBV
    • HIV
    • VDRL

  • Abdominal CT scan with IV contrast and volume measurement of the left lateral segment

  • Additional tests or consultation may be ordered if considered necessary by the evaluating physician.
