The USC General Surgery Residency Program provides a diverse clinical training experience and comprehensive educational programs that support the development of a highly skilled surgeon. Our program provides a mix of clinical experience including rotations at Los Angeles County-USC General Hospital, the flagship public hospital in Southern California, USC University Hospital, a tertiary referral academic center, and several local community hospitals. Our trainees are exposed to a wide variety of routine and complex surgical problems, varied patient populations and hospital practice systems. Complementing the clinical “hands-on” training, our robust educational programs are rooted in an extensive Surgical Skills Training and Educational Center which provides our trainees instruction and simulated surgical experience using inanimate and large animal models, cadaveric dissections, and virtual realty simulation. Many of our graduates go on to pursue additional training at top specialty fellowships around the country. The USC General Surgery Training Program is rich in tradition with a commitment to diversity and leadership by teaching scholarship and excellence.
