Welcome
to the Division of Trauma and Critical Care, LAC+USC Medical Center
Trauma is the leading cause of death in persons under the age of 40 and
affects a substantial percentage of the US population of all ages.
The estimated national annual cost for the healthcare of trauma
victims exceeds 200 billion US dollars.
The LAC+USC Trauma Center, a level I American College of Surgeons-approved
Trauma Center, is one of the largest in the United States.
Over 4500 patients are evaluated annually by our dedicated division
of Trauma and Critical Care with nine full time faculty members.
This division coordinates the often complicated care of critically
injured patients with other subspecialties.
We train three critical care fellows and several research fellows every
year. Participation at national and international symposia
is mandatory and we publish several articles each year.
Our mission is to provide accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive
health care, to offer top quality education of students, residents,
and fellows and to engage in research in the field of Trauma and
Critical Care.
The LAC+USC Trauma Center has a formal affiliation with the US
Navy for training of navy medical, nursing, and paramedical
personnel in the field of Trauma.
Through this website, visitors will be able to get a feel of the
rich academic and clinical environment offered at our medical center.
In addition, future critical care fellows and research fellows will
be able to evaluate our program.
