RESEARCH
Research Grants:
- CREST – Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy versus Stent Trial. CREST is a randomized, controlled, clinical trial in symptomatic patients with extracranial internal carotid stenosis = 70% by duplex ultrasound or = 50% as measured by angiography. The trial assesses the differential efficacy of CAS and CEA in preventing stroke, myocardial infarction, and death in the peri-procedural period and ipsilateral stroke over the follow-up period.
CREST, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, 2000 – present.
Co-Principal Investigator $150,000
- Cordis bilateral AAA Device. An evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of the Cordis bilateral AAA device compared to open surgical repair for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm.
CORDIS, a Johnson & Johnson Company, Warren, New Jersey, 1999 – present.
Principal Investigator $25,000
- Parexel Study. Safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of novel acting thrombolytic for initial treatment of chronic peripheral arterial occlusion.
PAREXEL, a subsidiary of Amgen, Inc., Waltham, Massachusetts, 1999 - present
Principal Investigator $95,000
- The Virtual Vascular Clinic. A prospective, randomized pilot study to assess the effectiveness of using standardized patients in a “Virtual Vascular Clinic” model compared with a traditional surgical clerkship model to teach critical skills in the examination and diagnosis of patients with common vascular complaints.
Association for Surgical Education, Springfield, Illinois, 1997-1998.
Principal Investigator $10,000
- Venaflo Multicenter Clinical Evaluation. A prospective, randomized, multicenter evaluation of Venaflo ePTFE vascular graft as compared to Impra ePTFE vascular graft in hemodialysis applications.
IMPRA- A Subsidiary of C.R. Bard, Inc., Tempe, Arizona, 1997-1998.
Principal Investigator $55,000
