Nancy D. Shebel, NP_C, MSN, MHA, CVN, RVT
Nancy is the clinical coordinator for Dr. Hood and assists him with his vascular surgery practice. She has worked within the vascular field in a number of different capacities for approximately twenty-five years. She trained at Presbyterian-St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago in preparation for becoming a registered nurse. While establishing a vascular laboratory in San Diego, she completed a BS in nursing.
Nancy left the hospital setting to work with a vascular technology equipment manufacturer before she started her own consulting business. Consulting provided an opportunity to work with many of the vascular surgeons in the Los Angeles area. Finding she missed working with patients, she accepted a position with two vascular surgeons in an ambulatory clinic setting. While there she created, coordinated, and achieved national accreditation for the vascular laboratory while continuing her education, earning a master's in health administration.
In 1999 Nancy returned to school to complete a master's in nursing, and in 2002 passed the national certification exam for credentialing nurse. Nancy is a dedicated caregiver, who has the patients' best interest at heart.
Nancy is a charter member of the Society of Vascular Technology, and in 1983 became one of the first to earn the credential of Registered Vascular Technologist. Nancy is an active member of the Society of Vascular Nursing serving on the patient education committee; as well as presenting papers and posters at their national symposium, and publishing in their Journal. She passed their certification exam in 1993 to become a Certified Vascular Nurse.
