Cedric G. Bremner, M.D. Cedric G. Bremner, M.D., professor of Clinical Surgery and director of Clinical Research, USC Department of Surgery, is an expert in gastroesophageal reflux and diseases of the esophagus. He is a pioneer in esophageal motility endoscopy and pH studies to investigate acid reflux.

Dr. Bremner earned his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, where he did his surgical and medical internship, and his senior internship in pediatric medicine and surgery. He worked five years in England in general surgery and orthopaedics, and spent more than two years at the prestigious Royal Postgraduate medical School (Hammersmith Hospital) in London. Later he spent a year in esophageal research at the Mayo Clinic under F. Henry Ellis, Jr., M.D. He was a full-time academic surgeon in general surgery at the University the Witwatersrand for 31 years, during which time he was chief surgeon for 13 years. Dr. Bremner joined USC in 1992.
