Fellowships

Hand / Microsurgical

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC offers a one year Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship beginning August 1 of each academic year. This is a broad based fellowship for a candidate that has completed an accredited training program in plastic surgery. The fellow will be exposed to all aspects of microsurgery with an emphasis on the use of free tissue transfer for reconstruction of complex breast, trunk, upper extremity, and lower extremity and head and neck defects. The average operative experience exceeds 100 flaps per year. Both basic and clinical research opportunities are available and can be tailored to the fellows' interest. The fellow will participate in city-wide educational conferences and benefit from a diverse teaching faculty at the following affiliated institutions:

  • USC University Hospital
  • Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center
  • USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • City of Hope, an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center
  • Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
  • Children's Hospital Los Angeles

A unique aspect of the USC Microsurgery Fellowship includes the opportunity for mentored, but semi-independent operative experience as a junior attending at LAC+USC Medical Center (with appropriate support from senior faculty members). A competitive stipend and full benefits will be provided.

Microsurgery faculty members include: James Andersen, MD; Regina Baker, MD; Bala Chandrasekhar, MD; Sharon Clancy; Dong-Joon Lee, MD; Andre Panossian, MD; Milan Stevanovic, MD; Randy Sherman, MD; Mark Tan, MD; Alex Wong, MD

To submit an application, please submit a letter of interest addressed to Warren Garner, M.D. (Program Director), an updated Curriculum Vitae, and 3 references via e-mail to erica.luong@surgery.usc.edu,
